Community Treasure Chest
After surveying the community, the design team found that nearly 90% of respondents wanted a lazy river and water slides, with a zero-depth-entry pool favored by almost as many. Their wishes were granted with this upgrade, which doubled the facility’s capacity and includes all the preferred features plus rain buckets and cascade sprays. As part of the plan, the team reduced the footprint of the building to make more room for outdoor features.

The pool measures 3,450 square feet. The lazy river, which covers 4,114 square feet, includes a vortex and a plunge pool for inner tubes. The river is more stretched and linear rather than meandering and winding. This enhances sight lines so fewer lifeguards are needed.

A covered tower houses two water slides — one dropping into the lazy river, the other running along the pool deck. The property also includes a rentable pavilion, restrooms, showers and concession stand.

In addition to the zero-depth entry, the pools include easily accessible stairs and in-wall steps, while the lazy river includes a ramped entry. Waterfeatures were arranged to showcase views while maintaining safety.

To provide a story line, the team introduced Adventure Pete, a pirate who followed a treasure map to Adventure Cove and now wants to share his findings. Pete appears on signage throughout the grounds. The building is scaled to the rest of neighborhood and features beach styling with plenty of shaded spaces.
