The owner of Loews Chicago Hotel, a luxury hotel located in Downtown Chicago, and its insurance companies are suing after the hotel flooded. A swimming pool, which was an amenity for apartments above the hotel, overflowed on the building’s 15th floor and is named as the cause of the flood.
According to a report in Crain’s Chicago Business, the lawsuit alleges the flood was caused when an employee of the apartment’s property management firm, Laramar Group, walked away while filling the pool in May 2015. The suit, which was filed in Cook County Circuit Court, seeks damages upwards of $50,000 and accuses both the owner, DRW Holdings, and Laramar of negligence.
