California’s Great America amusement park is renovating and rebranding its waterpark.
Early next year, the company plans to roll out South Bay Shores, a 15-acre waterpark that will be 50% larger than its current waterpark. The new property will offer 18 attractions, expanding from 10. It also will add two dining venues.
Among the attractions:
- Shark Reef Plunge, part of the new Pacific Surge slide complex, features four six-story-tall body slides on which four guests at a time drop on a nearly vertical free fall when the floor drops out from under them.
- Feeding Frenzy & The Barracuda contains two five-story tube slides that send single guests or duos winding through an enclosed tunnel before shooting them back out into the sun, through intense drops and turns.
- Tide Pool, a family lagoon with eight water slides in a zero-depth-entry pool for smaller children.
- Barefoot Beach, a sand play and beach area to relax and enjoy the sun.
Construction on South Bay Shores is already in progress, and will continue throughout the winter.
