Waterpark Prepares for Bright Future

1 MIN READ

There’s a bit of news coming out of the Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari camp these past few weeks.

First, after a more than three-year battle over the park’s ownership, the Indiana Supreme Court declared in late February that Lori Koch, widow of former Holiday World President Will Koch, will continue to oversee Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari amusement park in Spencer County, despite contention from her brother-in-law Dan Koch.

With that dispute seemingly in the past, the park now is moving forward with some theme enhancements, including a new restaurant and shop for Splashin’ Safari.

To bring the new areas to life, the park has partnered with St. Louis-based PGAV Destinations to implement the designs.

The Holiday World staff even is involved in the fun. The management team was invited to play The Name Game to come up with the title of the new eatery. In the end, Wildbeestro came out on top. Aptly named after the park’s first watercoaster, Wildebeest, and Will Koch’s final ride project before he died in 2010, the restaurant will feature grab-and-go menu items.

In addition to Wildbeestro, the new one-stop-shop, Outback, will include items ranging from swimsuits and sunblock to souvenirs.

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari opens for the season May 3.
