Whitewater, Wiegand-Maelzer

Waterparks attraction powerhouse WhiteWater has nabbed exclusive rights to one of the most attention-getting water rides of the past few years.

Last year, the company established a licensing partnership with Germany’s Wiegand-Maelzer for the SlideWheel, the colorful, visually striking waterslide that appears to coil in its wheel shape as it revolves. Recently, the companies upped the ante when Wiegand-Maelzer granted exclusive rights to WhiteWater. Going forward, WhiteWater will be the sole marketer and manufacturer of the product.

SlideWheel is the world’s first rotating water slide, the aquatics version of a Ferris wheel. It has won several awards from the World Waterpark Association and the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.

As part of this development, the German firm’s Rainer Maelzer has joined Whitewater as a consultant to help drive product innovation.
