The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance was formed in 2019, combining the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) and the National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF). With the mission to “Celebrate the Water,” we facilitate the expansion of swimming, water safety and related research, and outreach activities aimed at introducing more people to swimming, making swimming environments safer, and keeping pools open to serve communities. We accomplish this mission both internally at PHTA, and externally through our family: PHTA Chapters, GENESIS®, California Spa Association, Step Into™ Swim Campaign, and the World Aquatic Health™ Conference.

All our products are technically sound, convenient to take, and designed with the user in mind. PHTA Instructors have trained over 450,000+ professionals in 101 countries. Our primary courses are the Advanced Service Technician™ Training (ASTCM Certification), for residential technicians, and our Certified Pool/Spa Operator® (CPO®) Certification Program, for commercial facility operators.

Over $4 million in grants funded by PHTA have impacted policies and practices around the world. We attract hundreds of professionals from around the globe to the World Aquatic Health™ Conference each year to learn of the latest advances. In 2012, we launched Step Into Swim™ Campaign, a 10-year initiative to create 1 million more swimmers.
